French

Etymology

Borrowed from Latin concurro, concurrere, based on French courir.

Pronunciation

  • IPA(key): /kɔ̃.ku.ʁiʁ/
  • Audio:(file)

Verb

concourir

  1. (intransitive) to compete, to contend
  2. (followed by the preposition à) to contribute, to play a role in
  3. (mathematics) to converge

Conjugation

This verb is conjugated like other regular -ir verbs, except that in the conditional and future tenses an extra 'r' is added to the end of the stem and the past participle ends in -u. All verb ending in -courir are conjugated this way.
