  1. (inorganic chemistry) Any of a range of synthetic minerals composed of sodium, calcium and aluminium fluorides used (as a substitute for cryolite) as a flux in the electrolysisof bauxite
  2. A class of minerals, also indicated as calcined clay, composed of silicon dioxide, aluminum silicate, applied as the carriers in the industry of feed additives.
