Pronunciation[edit]

Numeral[edit]

  1. twelve

bus a dó dhéagbus number 12
    a dó dhéag a chlogtwelve o’clock

Usage notes[edit]

  • This form is used independently, not directly modifying a noun. It is always preceded by the particle a. "Twelve" directly modifying a noun is indicated by dhá/dá before the noun (and triggering lenition of it) and déag after it.
  • dhá bhus déagtwelve buses

The form aon deich a dó was prescribed by Peadar Ua Laoghaire in the 1920s, but it is unclear whether it has ever been used by native speakers.
