Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Vietic *-caːʔ (“pandan”), with pandan now also being called dứa dại.
Attested as giứa in the Dictionarium Annamiticum Lusitanum et Latinum (1651).
The etymological spelling giứa is now virtually never used, being replaced by dứa.
