From dark +‎ -zilla. From being the dark sector version of WIMPzilla. Coined by Katherine Freese and Martin Wolfgang Winkler in 2023.

dark-zilla (plural dark-zillas)

  1. (physics, cosmology) Theoretical extremely massive dark matter particle, orders of magnitude greater than 1010 GeV (gigaelectronvolts), thought to be generated by a vacuum phase change event, where rapidly colliding collapsing bubbles of false vacuum generate the particles in energetic collisions.
