Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دینی (dīnī /⁠dīnī⁠/), from Classical Persian دینی (dīnī /⁠dīnī⁠/), from Arabic دِينِيٌّ m (dīniyyun). By surface analysis, din (religion) +‎ -i (nisba suffix).
