  1. (obsolete) Divorce; dissolution of a marriage.
    • 1792, Mary Wollstonecraft, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, Penguin 2004, p. 91:
      [W]hen a man seduces a woman, […] the man should be legally obliged to maintain the woman and her children, unless adultery, a natural divorcement, abrogated the law.
  2. (figuratively, psychology) Complete detachment or disunion.
