[edit]From Proto-Austroasiatic *d₁kan (“bamboo rat”). Compare Muong cẳn (“bamboo rat”) and Khmu tkan ("mole"); also compare Malay dekan (“large bamboo rat, Rhizomys sumatrensis”).[1]
