English[edit]

Etymology[edit]

eigen- +‎ sample

Noun[edit]

eigensample (plural eigensamples)

  1. (genetics) A set of samples with similar activity for an eigengene.
    • 2007, Marketa Zvelebil, Jeremy Baum, Understanding Bioinformatics, page 633:
The expression level of every gene in an eigensample is given in matrix U, and the expression level of every eigengene in each sample is given in matrix VT.
    • 2015, Jian Liu et al., A P-Norm Robust Feature Extraction Method for Identifying Differentially Expressed Genes[1]:
To obtain the eigensamples which contain the characteristic structure of the gene expression data, matrix X is decomposed into W (the product of U and D) and VT by using SVD, where W is the collection of all the eigensamples [8, 15]
