Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl]  embrocatus, past participle of Late Latin embrocare, from embrocha, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek ἐμβροχή (embrokhḗ, “lotion, fomentation”).

Verb

1. (medicine, transitive) To moisten and rub (a diseased part) with a liquid substance, as with spirit, oil, etc., by means of a cloth or sponge.
