Etymology[edit]

From Ancient Greek ἐπένδυμα ‎(epénduma), "outer garment", from ἐπενδύειν ‎(ependúein), from ἐπί ‎(epí, over) + ἐν ‎(en, on) + δύειν ‎(dúein, to put).
