  1. A dried specimen such as that in a herbarium.
    • 1902, H. W. Pugsley, “The British Capreolate Fumitories”, in The Journal of Botany, British and Foreign, volume 40, page 179:
      The exsiccata quoted are all to be found in the Herbarium of the British Museum.
    • 1953, Guy Richard Bisby, An Introduction to the Taxonomy and Nomenclature of Fungi, page 105:
      On and after January 1, 1953, the distribution of an exsiccatum relative to any new taxon, accompanied by an original diagnosis, even if this is printed, does not constitute effective publication.
