Etymology

From Middle High German velschen, from Old High German felsken, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 95: Parameter 1 should be a valid language code; the value "LL." is not valid. See WT:LOL. *falsicāre, a contraction of falsificāre. The verb fälschen is therefore significantly older in German than the adjective falsch, from which it would seem to be derived.
