German[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Middle High German velschen, from Old High German felsken, from Late Latin *falsicāre, a contraction of falsificāre. The verb fälschen is therefore significantly older in German than the adjective falsch, from which it would seem to be derived.

Pronunciation[edit]
