fleet racing (uncountable)

  1. (water sports, sailing, yachting) A type of sport sail yachting event where a squadron of sailboats race as a fleet, against one another, on the same course, at the same time. (The famous Whitbread or Volvo Ocean Race, is of this type, as is the America's Cup World Series, and Extreme Sailing Series.)
