English[edit]

Noun[edit]

fourble (plural fourbles)

  1. A set of oil drilling pipes having four joints.
    • 1924, Roy Cross, A Handbook of Petroleum, Asphalt and Natural Gas: Methods of Analysis, Specifications, Properties, Refining Processes, Statistics, Tables and Bibliography:
Derricks are being made slightly higher, the Chanslor-Canfield Midway Oil Co. making all its derricks 122 feet instead of 114 feet as hitherto; this gives greater head room for extra long "fourbles", and is an advantage.
