frequency distribution (plural frequency distributions)

(statistics) a structured representation that summarizes how often values or categories occur within a dataset by organizing quantitative data into class intervals and categorizing qualitative data into distinct groups, thus revealing patterns, trends, and distributions, often showed in a list, table, or graph that displays the frequency of various outcomes in a sample.
