From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old French géométrie, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Latin geometria, from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Ancient Greek γεωμετρία (geōmetría, “geometry, land-survey”), from γεωμέτρης (geōmétrēs, “land measurer”), from γῆ (gê, “earth, land, country”) + -μετρία (-metría, “measurement”), from μέτρον (métron, “a measure”).
