  1. (medicine) A burning sensation of the tongue, especially as seen in burning mouth syndrome.

      Glossodynia and glossopyrosis are discussed here because there can be a neurologic basis for these symptoms in many patients. Glossodynia refers to a painful tongue and glossopyrosis refers to burning sensation of tongue.
