hippiatrist (plural hippiatrists)

  1. A veterinarian who treats horses.
    • 1892, Louis Georges Neumann, A Treatise on the Parasites and Parasitic Diseases of the Domesticated Animals:
Psoroptic scabies may also be mistaken for pityriasis—the principal form of the Rouvieux of the hippiatrists—and which often affects the upper border of the neck and root of the tail of dirty horses; it also often coincides with phthiriasis, of which it is then only a manifestation.
