honey fund (plural honey funds)

  1. A supply of honey, often created as a subsidy for beekeepers, or the funds used to purchase that supply.
    • 1917, The Spectator - Issues 4645-4670, page 85:
      Making hives would be a good occupation for many of our convalescent wounded men, and if every cottager wore presented with a hive of bees (surely some of the War Funds could start them, or a special Honey Fund be raised) it would be a great help to those who pine for sugar, especially for children and workers.
    • 1979, Laws Passed at the Session of the Legislative Assembly of North Dakota:
      The state treasurer shall deposit all moneys received under this Act in a special fund to be known as the honey fund. All moneys deposited in the honey fund shall, subject to legislative appropriation, be expended by the commissioner for use pursuant to this Act.
