From Javanese ꦗꦫꦥꦃ (jarapah), from Arabic زَرَافَة(zarāfa), from Classical Syriac ܙܵܪܝܼܦܵܐ(zarāfa). Doublet of zarafah, zirafah. Attested before 1967.
