Etymology

From Old Galician-Portuguese, from Late Latin iūdicāmentum, jūdicāmentum, from Latin iūdex (judge). Equivalent to julgar +‎ -mento. Compare Spanish juzgamiento, Catalan and Occitan jutjament, French jugement, Italian giudicamento.
