From Proto-Balto-Slavic *leʔnas, *lēnas, from Proto-Indo-European *leh₁- (soft, slow). Balto-Slavic cognates include Latvian lȩ̃ns (lazy), lȩ̄̀ns (lazy), lȩ̂ns (soft, mild), Proto-Slavic *lěnъ (lazy, slow).[1]
