[edit]From Proto-Iranian *هرخشكاره, from *هرخشكاتى (“to protect, guard”) + *كاره (“doer”), with the first element from Proto-Indo-Iranian *هركشاتى (“to protect”).[1] Compare Sanskrit रक्षति (rakṣati).
