Etymology

From the same word family as lašė́ti (to drip, flow in drops), though the exact morphological details are unclear. Either analyzed as laš-iniai, in which case directly from lašė́ti, or analyzed as lašin-iai, in which case from the related lãšinti (to drip, pour in drops).[1]
