Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Balto-Slavic *nisdá[1], from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 1 should be a valid language or etymology language code; the value "ine" is not valid. See WT:LOL and WT:LOL/E. *ni-sd-óm[1].

In Eastern Baltic languages the anlaut *n changed into *l.. Cognate with Latvian ligzda, Polish gniazdo[1][2], Old English nest[1], Latin nīdus (abode)[1] and (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Sanskrit नीड (nīḍá-)[1].
