Hungarian
[edit]Etymology
[edit]First attested in 1811. Either from French mime (“pantomime actor”) or from German Mime, from Latin mimus (“mime actor”), from Ancient Greek μῖμος (mîmos, “imitator, actor”). With the verb-forming suffix -l. Created during the Hungarian language reform, which took place in the 18th–19th centuries.[1]
