mórán m (genitive singular móráin)

  1. a large amount (followed by the genitive; usually translated into English by much or many)
    Níl mórán céille aige.
    He doesn’t have much sense.
    Ní chonaic mé le mórán blianta é
    I haven’t seen him for many years.
    Níl mórán nach dtuigeann sé.
    There isn’t much he doesn’t understand.

Usage notes[edit]

Used only in negative statements and in questions. In positive statements, neart or a lán is used instead.
