Etymology[edit]

Ultimately from Arabic مَخَازِن(maḵāzin, storerooms, storehouses), plural of مَخْزَن(maḵzan, storeroom, storehouse) from Arabic خَزَنَ(ḵazana, to store, to stock, to lay up), from the root خ ز ن(ḵ z n) whence also Azerbaijani xəzinə (treasury).
