From Russian маршру́тка ‎(maršrútka), colloquial shortening of маршру́тное такси́ ‎(maršrútnoje taksí, routed taxicab), from маршру́т ‎(maršrút, route), referring to a planned route that something follows, and такси́ ‎(taksí).
