Etymology[edit]
Pseudo-Germanism, derived from Mauer (“wall”) + Bauer (“builder”) + Traurigkeit (“sorrow”). Coined by American author and neologist John Koenig, creator of The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows.[1]
