Etymology

Euphemistic short form of phrase me vale madre, lit. "that worths (a) mother for me", in the sense of "it does not cost a thing". In Mexican Spanish word "madre" sometimes symbolizes very important matters, othertimes symbolizes very contemptible or valueless things.
