Etymology

From Sanskrit मागध (māgadha, “male of mixed caste, with Kṣatriya-mother and a Vaiśya-father”).

Noun

megat (Jawi spelling مݢت, plural megat-megat, informal 1st possessive megatku, 2nd possessive megatmu, 3rd possessive megatnya)

1. title given to noble people, of royal descent on the mother's side but unable from the inferior position of their fathers to take the higher title of wan.
