English
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Literally, monster (“very large”) + truck (“motor vehicle”). Reportedly coined by Bob George, an owner of a motorsports promotion company, in the early 1980s, when referring to a popularly oversized truck named Bigfoot. Through semantic generalization, it came to refer to any of these oversized trucks.
