Usage notes

  • If the following noun is without the definite article, it's usually in the nominative case:
    sgeulachdan mu dheidhinn poidseadh - tales about poaching
  • If the following noun is preceded by the definite article or a possessive pronoun, it's usually in the genitive case:
    fiosrachadh mu dheidhinn an cànain - information about the language
    mu dheidhinn mo bhràthar - about my brother
  • If English uses a personal pronoun as the object, Scottish Gaelic uses a possessive pronoun instead - see under Derived terms.
