nattuvangam (uncountable)

  1. A South Indian form of rhythmic recitation.

It is a rhythmic instrument played in background music of a Bharatanatyam performance. Nattuvangam is of two metal pieces, one iron and another brass. A thick thread will be tied to the pieces separately, to use as handles. One who plays this instrument is called Nattuvanaar.
