Etymology[edit]

Borrowing from New Latin ōmohȳoīdēs, from Ancient Greek ὦμος (ômos, shoulder) +‎ Latin hȳoīdēs (U-shaped); equivalent to omo- +‎ hyoid. Doublet of omohyoideus.
