      Because the overinduced vulval phenotype caused by loss of lin-1 activity is the opposite of the underinduced phenotype resulting from reduction of Wnt pathway activity ( Eisenmann et al. 1998 ; Eisenmann and Kim 2000 ; Gleason et al. 2006 ), it was intriguing to identify lin-1 as a possible Wnt pathway target. qPCR showed that endogenous lin-1 transcript levels increased slightly upon Wnt pathway activation and decreased slightly upon Wnt pathway inhibition ( Table S5 ).
