[edit]- In a sentence such as Une poignée de spectateurs [a/ont] chahuté l'orateur, verbs and participles can agree with either poignée or spectateurs, according to whether one wants to emphasize the group or the individuals. With a definite article (La poignée de spectateurs est partie), agreement with poignée is more usual because such a sentence is typically speaking about the group. [1]
