According to Svenska Akademiens ordbok, from dialectal Swedish prutti with the same meaning. Of onomatopoeic origin. Compare Danish prut, French prout.

2. (vulgar, slang, chiefly in the definite) The anus, especially when referring to anal sex (only in the definite form); the shitter.

   Fick du den i prutten igår eller?

   Did you get it up the shitter yesterday or what?
