Etymology[edit]
Unadapted borrowing from Arabic رَوْضَة أَطْفَال (rawḍa(t) ʔaṭfāl, “kindergarten”) as رَوْضَة (rawḍa, “garden”) + أَطْفَال (ʔaṭfāl, “children”), from Calque of German Kindergarten (“kindergarten”, literally “garden of children”). Doublet of taman kanak-kanak.

Usage notes[edit]
In Indonesia, taman kanak-kanak is used by kindergarten which is under supervision of Ministry of Education. Islamic kindergarten supervised by Ministry of Religious Affairs use raudatul athfal.
