  1. (grammar) An auxiliary grammatical construction in which the object of a clause is stated to be in the possession of the subject; usually as way to clarify, specify or emphasize the overall meaning of the statement.

Usage notes[edit]

In English, reflexive possession is usually conveyed by using the word own after a pronoun that refers to the subject: e.g. "her own".
