From Hindustani contraction रिसालदार (risāldār) / رسالدار (risāldār), from रिसालादार (risālādār) / رسالہ دار (risāla-dār), from Persian رساله‌دار (resâle-dâr), from Arabic رِسَالَة (risāla) + Persian agent suffix دار (dâr).
