Etymology[edit]

From Ottoman Turkishصیجاق(sıcak),[1] from older ⁧اصیجاق(ıssıcak, hot, warm) (via Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (isicak/ïsïcak)), equivalent to ısı (heat) + diminutive suffix -cak, ultimately from Proto-Turkic *ïsï-, *isi- (to be hot).[2]
