Etymology

Borrowed from Hokkien 送日 (sàng-ji̍t), short for 送日頭／送日头 (sàng-ji̍t-thâu, “to notify the bride's family of the wedding day”), which is from 送 (sàng, “to send; to dispatch”) +‎ 日頭 / 日头 (ji̍t-thâu, “wedding day”).
