    Inherited from Arabic صُنْدُوق (ṣundūq), borrowed from Aramaic צנדוק (ṣəndūq, coffer, especially one storing documents, safe-guarding precious items), borrowed from Ancient Greek σῠνθήκη (sŭnthḗkē), from σῠντῐ́θημῐ (sŭntĭ́thēmĭ, to place or put together), from συν- (sun-) + τίθημι (títhēmi).
