Etymology

The senior patrol leader does not belong to any of the troop's patrols. The SPL is instead the leader of all of such patrols collectively, which is the reason such troop members are given this title.

senior patrol leader (plural senior patrol leaders)

  1. (scouting, US) A youth Scout who holds the position with the highest amount of responsibility in his troop; they were elected by his fellow Scouts, and is responsible for all troop activities.
