1. (medicine, obsolete) Surgical removal of a sequestrum, or piece of dead bone that has become separated due to necrosis.
   • 1885, G.G. Eitel, “Osteomyelitis”, in Northwestern Lancet‎^[1], page 62:

     The patient passed out of my hands, was finally taken to a hospital and a sequestrotomy performed after which he made a good recovery.
