From Ottoman Turkish سرعسكر ‎(serasker), from Persian سرعسکر ‎(sar-askar), a compound word from Persian سر ‎(sar, head) and Arabic عَسْكَر ‎(ʿaskar, army), itself from Persian لشکر ‎(laškar, army). [1]
